TREE PRUNING

“Proper pruning improves the appearance, health, and safety of a tree.”

There are many reasons for pruning a tree. Some include:

• reduction of wind resistance. This leads to significantly less storm damage
• removal of dead limbs to increase the safety of the tree
• removal of storm damaged limbs
• raising the canopy of the tree
• removal of limbs interfering with buildings, power lines, or other trees
• shaping of juvenile trees

In addition to regular pruning, we also recommend that ivy is not encouraged to grow on trees. The ivy effectively acts as a sail in the wind and can cause damage even to otherwise healthy trees.
